Nowhere But Here (Thunder Road Series) by Katie McGarry

Nowhere but Here by Katie McGarry

**So my blog is a work in progress and at some point, I posted this on the wrong page?? I am not sure how but I am that awesome! That being said the timing will be off in reference to the release of the 3rd book**

Okay so I love the author but motorcycles are not my thing. However, I still recommend the Thunder Road series and I have pre-ordered the 3rd book that is coming out at the end of this month.

Seventeen-year-old Emily likes her life the way it is: doting parents, good friends, good school in a safe neighborhood. Sure, she’s curious about her biological father—the one who chose life in a motorcycle club, the Reign of Terror, over being a parent—but that doesn’t mean she wants to be a part of his world. But when a reluctant visit turns into an extended summer vacation among relatives she never knew she had, one thing becomes clear: nothing is what it seems. Not the club, not her secret-keeping father and not Oz, a guy with suck-me-in blue eyes who can help her understand them both.

Oz wants one thing: to join the Reign of Terror. They’re the good guys. They protect people. They’re…family. And while Emily—the gorgeous and sheltered daughter of the club’s most respected member—is in town, he’s gonna prove it to her. So when her father asks him to keep her safe from a rival club with a score to settle, Oz knows it’s his shot at his dream. What he doesn’t count on is that Emily just might turn that dream upside down.

No one wants them to be together. But sometimes the right person is the one you least expect, and the road you fear the most is the one that leads you home.

My thoughts:

Emily is a mix between a spoiled, whiny, brat and having a backbone. She is a little annoying and so is her mom. Her adoptive father sounds too good to be true and honestly like townies of the story I find it hard to believe any motorcycle club is completely legit. Those reservations aside Emily’s character does grow throughout the book and realizes that she didn’t give them a chance when Oz calls her out on it. She stays longer than she plans because her grandmother keeps dangling clues to what really happened but won’t outright tell her because she promised not to and knows Emily will leave once she knows. I have to admit I did not see the end coming and there are a lot of aspects of the MC life that do not appeal to me, even if they are a legit club.

Oz sounds dreamy and I felt nervous for him when getting into the MC didn’t go at all as planned. He is loyal to his family even if they are not blood and tries to do what is right even if that means trying to send Emily back to Florida so that she cannot hurt anyone else with her preconceived notions and lack of interest.

The sense of family and loyalty are there and that is what makes them appealing despite bras on the wall and moms winning wet t-shirt contests. I like the second book even more and that will be next week’s review followed by the newly released book the week after.

You should read this book if: You like a tough guy exterior with an honorable interior, like teen romance with a little suspense, and/or if you have liked any of Katie McGarry’s other books

*Side Note After reading this one and while waiting for the next at the library I re-read Crash Into You which is my favorite and there is a link in that book to these characters and I am wondering if just maybe that will come up in the next book. I can only hope because Isaiah is my favorite!
